From childhood, I have always wanted to become a journalist. Years ago when I was struggling as an aspiring journalist, I used to have online friends with whom I chatted every night.
I was trying to get a break in my career but could not get a good opportunity, as I did not have any professional training from any reputed institute in the related field. I was utterly frustrated as I could not afford the training at that time. While talking to Amy one of my Mailfriends about this problem, she told me she would surely help. To be very honest I did not have much faith in her as she was a just a school going girl then.
The very next day, I got a mail from Amy with the address and contact number of a person from a reputed bank. She had asked me to call the person for an appointment. I did so. When I met the person, it was revealed that the person was none other than Amy’s father. He talked to me about some student loan, which their bank is offering with some really low interests. I applied for the loan and it was approved really fast. I applied and finished the training that I so wanted to be a part of. When I passed out, I got an excellent offer from one of the leading newspapers as a sport journalist.

Tibetan Friend
With Mailfriends, the definition of international friend has been changed. You can now find friends from North Pole to South Pole. You can also get in touch with several like-minded people.
I have a keen interest in Tibetan life and culture. I read and searched on the Internet a lot about them. However I had the feeling that it was not what I wanted. I felt the need to talk to a person who is a part of that culture. I met Chang on Mailfriends. Though now a resident of China, he has his ancestral home over there. In fact one of his ancestors was a lama in a monastery.
What more could I ask for? He gave me each and every detail about Tibetan culture, their religion, Buddhism and monastery. We continued chatting for months and he got really irritated with my endless queries that got on his nerves sometimes. Months passed by. One day he invited me to his ancestral place. We went on a month long tour to Tibet and he was my guide. I spent time in the monasteries, with the religious teachers and it was an experience of a lifetime.

Professional friendship
I had always desired to have a chat friend who should be a journalist, I being a budding journalist. Somehow the profession excites me from the days I came to know about the profession. A particular international incident shook me a lot. In fact, I was so motivated by the reporting that I decided to share my thoughts with all of my friends and acquaintances. As I did that, I did not expect much response from the readers. But after opening by blog after a week I found three comments written by the readers, and one of the comments was from a journalist.
I was totally elated to find that a journalist had read my piece. He had also left his e-mail id with the comments. I could not believe that my dream had come true at last. I immediately sent him a chat invitation citing my desire. After a weeklong wait he accepted my hand of friendship. Today, I often discuss many volatile issues with him that has been in the limelight for quite sometime now. He is the real motivation in my pursuing journalism as a career in my life.

Love is in the air
My friend Sheila has been romancing with a guy for the last three months. She seems to have found her long cherished Mr. Right at last. Once I just asked her casually if she is not intimidated by the fact that she doesn’t really know much about this guy.
Initially she laughed and told me the reasons why she trusted the guy. Though is said that in every relationships the initial understandings are built through face-to-face discussions, in Sheila’s case it was not possible as the guy was staying in another city. But Sheila took great care so that the distance should not create a barrier between them. If ever they had any kind of arguments or misunderstandings, she had always indulged herself in an honest, heartfelt conversation with him through internet chat. She believes that open communication is the only way to solve any misunderstanding and build a successful association. It is also very important for the other person to know his importance in your life. The tips that she gave were very interesting too. My friend told me to be honest to the relationship and look at the relation in most positive manner. If you are a newbie in online dating, you must take your partner as your most cherished companion and share with him the best of yourself. Only then can you build a true and enduring relationship.

Online Business Networking
The concept of online friendship has diversified into several other areas, apart from being a mode of building friendship. Today online friendship websites are not only used for developing Internet penpals or finding friends, but of late it has also become an avenue for developing online business networks. In addition to the large corporate companies, medium and small marketing companies have also embarked in this journey to make online contacts for commercial purposes. They are using the online friendship websites and other similar forums to find business clients, new partners and jobs through the contacts they have made online.
You might have been wondering how they achieve their purpose through this procedure. Most of these businessmen have their individual blogs through which they interact with clients who share common business interest. Today, professionals from various walks of life like lawyers, doctors, businessmen, management consultants etc. are benefiting with their personal presence on the Internet through blogs, social networking sites and of course from the international friendship websites. Playing Football with Friends
I have been part of Mailfriends for a long time now. Through Mailfriends I was able to find friends who are like-minded and share my passions. Over the months I have had regular contact with Scott, Mike, Anthony and Nicolas. Every time they come online we discuss a lot about different subjects. However the most interesting topic that often repeats itself in most of our chats is football. The game is religion for all five of us and we have animated discussions about the latest on-field exploits of our football stars. We follow the game everyday and talk about the wins and losses of our favorite teams. It is a really nice feeling. What’s more the five of us have also decided to meet up one day and play a game or two just for fun. Thanks to Mailfriends I was able to find online friends who share the same interest like me.

Social Networking
The other day I was having a lively discussion with one of my friends. His name is Andrew and we had been in touch for several weeks through Mailfriends. What attracted me most about Andrew at first was his musical background. He was a professional violinist and had a respectable degree from one of the most prestigious institutes in our city. Though I am an amateur in this area I love playing the violin and wanted to know more about it. I have always wanted to take professional help in order to improve but had no idea about where to go and whom to seek. I have talked to Andrew about this from time to time and he has often given me useful advices. He has taught me a lot about the basics of playing the violin. He has also talked about the institutes that offer several programs. It was through Mailfriends that I got in touch with Andrew. I never thought finding friends can be this easy! Mailfriends has given me a chance to connect with hundreds of helpful online friends like Andrew who can offer friendly advice and help you out when you really need it.
